From Toulouse to Kinshasa, from Casablanca to Quebec City, Jack on the streets of the world invites you to discover ten French-speaking cities from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Produced by the City of Toulouse and RFI, this documentary series follows in the footsteps of journalist Jack Souvant, who set off with an envelope, a plane ticket and a few words as his only clues. We will be broadcasting the episodes throughout September.

An envelope, a plane ticket and a destination

An anonymous envelope, a plane ticket, the name of a town and a single word. That is the starting point for this adventure produced by the City of Toulouse and RFI. With a microphone in hand, the journalist and author Jack Souvant agrees to accept these enigmatic invitations and sets off to meet the people who breathe life into their city’s creative scene.
From From Kinshasa to New Orleans, by Casablanca in Quebec City, each episode takes us to a new destination. Artists, craftspeople, designers, chefs and writers become our guides on a journey where voices, atmospheres and soundscapes reveal the cities in a different light.

Ten cities, ten creative worlds

The series explores ten member cities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, each through their own creative field: music in Toulouse and Kinshasa, literature in Québec, gastronomy in Bohicon… A journey that highlights the diversity of Francophone cultures and the richness of exchanges between the cities.
This network now brings together more than 400 cities around the world across eight fields: architecture, crafts and folk arts, digital arts, design, cinema, gastronomy, literature and music.

A stopover every two days

L'The Alliance Française in Toulouse is acting as a partner in this audio project and invites you to follow its ten stops throughout the month. From 9 September, and until 30 September, a new episode will be released every two days.
A new city, new voices, a new story: that is how the journey takes shape, step by step, as we meet new people.
