On the initiative of, and in partnership with, the Consulate-General of Peru in Paris and the Honorary Consulate in Toulouse, the AF in Toulouse is building a new cultural bridge between Peru and France through the exhibition Peru–Toulouse route. This project builds on the ongoing dialogue we have with Ms Zeballos, Peru’s Consul in Toulouse, whom we were delighted to welcome during the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the Alliance Française in Toulouse. Her ongoing commitment to cultural dialogue is helping to showcase Peruvian artistic creation to the people of Toulouse today.
From 18 September to 5 October 2026, the Alliance Française in Toulouse will host the exhibition Peru–Toulouse route, an art event bringing together around thirty Peruvian artists based in France. Curated by the artist GAbO, this event will showcase nearly fifty works that demonstrate the richness and diversity of contemporary Peruvian art.
Launched in Paris in 2018, the AXE project aims to promote Peruvian art in France. It was initially presented in the form of monthly exhibitions at the Consulate General of Peru in Paris, it has gradually expanded its reach to several major French cities such as Bordeaux, Nice, Strasbourg and Lyon. Toulouse has now joined this dynamic cultural network, offering its audience a unique opportunity to discover artists whose backgrounds are rooted in two cultures.
Painting, photography, textile art, printmaking, digital art, mixed media and altarpieces: the works on display reflect the diversity of contemporary artistic expression in Peru. Through colours, forms and symbols inherited from traditions dating back thousands of years, the artists explore the links between memory, identity and modernity. Their creations pay tribute to an ancestral cultural heritage whilst affirming a resolutely contemporary vision that is open to the world.
Beyond its artistic dimension, Peru–Toulouse route It also serves as a space for encounter and dialogue. The exhibition aims to strengthen cultural exchanges between peoples and to promote the integration of Peruvians living in France through the medium of art. This ambition resonates particularly strongly in a city such as Toulouse, which is renowned for its vibrant cultural scene and its international outlook.
Admission to the exhibition will be free, enabling as many people as possible to experience this immersion in the creative world of Peru and to celebrate the vitality of an artistic scene that is truly thriving.
