{"id":8360,"date":"2026-03-05T18:39:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T17:39:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alliance-toulouse.org\/?post_type=product&#038;p=8360"},"modified":"2026-08-07T14:42:52","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T12:42:52","slug":"civic-examination","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/alliance-toulouse.org\/en\/catalogue\/examen\/examen-civique\/","title":{"rendered":"Civic examination"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>What is the civic examination?<\/h3>\n<p>The civics exam is an assessment of knowledge and mastery of the rules, principles and values of the French Republic.<\/p>\n<p>The exam is offered by the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse, under the governance of France \u00c9ducation International.<\/p>\n<p>The content and questions are designed by the Ministry of the Interior.<\/p>\n<h3>For whom and why?<\/h3>\n<p>The civics test complements the language assessment (TCF IRN or DELF) and is compulsory for :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applying for a multi-annual residence permit (1<sup>era<\/sup> application or renewal),<\/li>\n<li>Applying for a residence permit (1<sup>era<\/sup> request),<\/li>\n<li>Apply for French naturalisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Attention<\/strong> Depending on the type of application (multi-annual residence permit, residence permit or naturalisation), the applicant will have to select a specific version of the test. The Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse would like to point out that for the applicant's application to be successful, he or she must have the required language level and pass the civics test.<\/p>\n<h3>Course<\/h3>\n<p>The civics exam consists of a computer-based multiple-choice test taken on the premises of the examination centre.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates have to answer 40 questions in 45 minutes and must obtain at least 80% correct answers to pass the exam.<\/p>\n<p>There are special provisions (arrangements, exemptions) in cases provided for by law and on presentation of a medical certificate (<a href=\"https:\/\/alliance-toulouse.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Examen-civique-certificat-medical.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">download here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<h3>Objective<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>To apply for or renew a <strong>multi-annual residence permit<\/strong>, an A2 language level (minimum) and an <a href=\"https:\/\/formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Multi-annual residence permit\u00ab civic examination\u00bb<\/a> are required.<\/li>\n<li>To request a <strong>resident card<\/strong>, a B1 language level (minimum) and a university degree. <a href=\"https:\/\/formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">civic examination \u00abResident card\u00bb<\/a> are required.<\/li>\n<li>To request the <strong>naturalisation<\/strong>, a B2 language level (minimum) and a university degree. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.immigration.interieur.gouv.fr\/Integration-et-Acces-a-la-nationalite\/La-nationalite-francaise\/Les-procedures-d-acces-a-la-nationalite-francaise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naturalisation\u00ab civic examination\u00bb<\/a> are required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Registration<\/h3>\n<p><u>1<sup>era<\/sup> stage :<\/u> BEFORE the exam<\/p>\n<p>Candidates must pre-register on <a href=\"https:\/\/test-civique.fr\/inscription\/02A7887F3F487A5F6A02832933AB11A0BD2C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the France Education International website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attention<\/strong> Registration: candidates must have a valid e-mail address to finalise their registration. A validation e-mail will be sent to them for validation.<\/p>\n<p>In the event of difficulty, candidates can complete this stage at the secretariat of the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse.<br \/>\nOpen on Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm.<\/p>\n<p><u>2<sup>th<\/sup> stage :<\/u> BEFORE the exam<\/p>\n<p>Once registration has been finalised with FEI, the candidate contacts the examination centre to register for the session of their choice (day and time). The candidate must then complete the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse's own registration form.<\/p>\n<p>Payment is made at that time, either directly on the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse website, or on site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXAMINATION FEE: \u20ac70<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A registration certificate showing the date, time and type of examination will be issued to the candidate (on paper or by e-mail). This certificate must be kept. No reminders for this exam will be sent, either by e-mail or SMS.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>3<sup>th<\/sup> stage :<\/u> on the day of the exam<\/p>\n<p>On the day of the exam, candidates must bring proof of identity.<\/p>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">A valid residence permit is accepted for all candidates.<\/b><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><b class=\"\">For European Union nationals only, a passport or identity card is accepted for the naturalisation civics test.<\/b><\/div>\n<p>The entire registration file is checked with a member of the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse team and accepted by the candidate (signature of a document) and a photo is taken on site.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Candidates must come equipped with their login and password to connect to the candidate area where they will take the exam.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Calendar<\/h3>\n<p>The Alliance Fran\u00e7aise de Toulouse offers exam sessions:<\/p>\n<p>- Monday afternoons<\/p>\n<p>- Tuesday mornings and afternoons<\/p>\n<p>- Wednesday mornings<\/p>\n<h3>Results<\/h3>\n<p>The results are sent to candidates on the candidates' area within 12 hours of the test.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don't lose your access to the candidate area<\/strong>, Your results certificate will be available on the candidate account you created when you registered.<\/p>\n<h3>To prepare<\/h3>\n<p>There are no preparatory courses for the civics exam.
